He qualified as a social worker in 1988 and has since worked in almost every area of social care — as a frontline practitioner, team manager, senior manager, trainer, consultant, company director, and independent practitioner. He has worked for twelve local authorities, three NHS Mental Health Trusts, and in the private and voluntary sectors. He was the founder and Managing Director of Social Care Direct Ltd, established to provide integrated out-of-hours social care services for local authorities and the Care Quality Commission, working alongside GP and nursing urgent care teams. For two years he directed a family mediation company.
Kim has extensive expertise in children and families work and in public and private family court proceedings, having prepared or supervised hundreds of cases before the Family Courts. He has also worked directly for the court as a Children’s Guardian ad litem and later as a Cafcass officer.
Since 2000 He has practised as an Approved Mental Health Professional.
For the past five years, Kim has worked as a McKenzie Friend, supporting families through private and public law proceedings. He is also a qualified Family Mediator working towards FMC accreditation.
His values are to put children first, reduce conflict, empower families, and help improve the Family Courts.
